It’s one of those freedoms of choice that the “progressive” Left really doesn’t want anyone to have (unless you’re an elitist who can afford other options): the freedom to choose which public school your kids will attend. It’s certainly not a cause Obama supports (freedom of choice to end the life of your unborn child – OK – but you don’t get a say in your living child’s education). Giving school choice the cold shoulder is a familiar move for Obama, who has consistently opposed letting parents choose where to send their kids to school, and sought to eliminate charter school programs in Washington, D.C. shortly after taking office.
