Saturday Shorts – 3-2-13

Random links of interest, concern or curiosity from the past week or so, that deserve at least a SHORT mention:

Hollywood is Dead ~ Sultan Knish’s post-Oscar reflections ~

The death of Hollywood would have been a tragedy once, but these days it’s almost a relief. It leaves behind a lot of great movies, almost all of them made in the past, and the best proof of that is the compulsive flood of remakes, reboots and reinventions of old properties.
The spirit of the industry is gone and all that’s left is a shambling zombie picking over its own brains and living off past glories while throwing elaborate industry parties that are little more than an expensive glorified reality show.

NASA – Subjugated, “Repurposed” and Sleeping With Our Enemies ~ Another tragic casualty of the Obama regime – now the agency is leaking military tech secrets to “friend” and foe.

All the Coal, None of the Carbon- Almost ~ Newly developed technology can capture more than 99 percent of carbon dioxide emissions during production. Looks like the EPA may have to find a new energy villain ~

The OSU discovery exposes the fallacy of radical left and particularly the Obama Administration. They believe people are the problem, when in fact people will invariably find the smart, safe, and efficient solutions to the challenges we face.

All Of This Whining About The Sequester Shows Why America Is Doomed ~

Americans are absolutely addicted to big government. They want a gigantic government that sends out free money to more than 100 million Americans every month, but they absolutely do not want to pay for it. They would rather steal money from their children and their grandchildren to pay for it.

DePaul Punishes Pro-Life Student for Releasing Names of Vandals ~ Another U.S. college campus with a low tolerance for free speech.

Missouri Union-Boss-Turned-Democrat Rep. Wants to Make Fighting For Workplace Freedom A Felony ~ From the department of You Just Can’t Make this Stuff Up; right-to-work legislation is having such a positive economic impact wherever it’s been enacted that some leftists actually want to criminalize its sponsorship.

90 Seconds of Great Character ~ Heartwarming story from El Paso that reminds us all may not be lost.
