Free at last!
Congratulations, and “welcome home,” to Louisiana state senator Elbert Guillory, a former Democrat, who has joined the party of Abraham Lincoln, Frederick Douglass and Martin Luther King! Sen. Guillory formally announced the change at an @Large conference held last month in Baton Rouge.
@Large, a recently formed non-profit organization, seeks to ~
…inspire, motivate, and encourage black conservatives to get involved in politics and build a constituency within their communities…
We are striving to lay the foundation for black conservatism to spread into small and large communities alike, and give people the tools needed to build this foundation.
The 2013 Conference, the group’s first, featured a showing of Rev. C.L. Bryant’s documentary “Runaway Slave,” a film that advocates a new Underground Railroad that would help all Americans escape“the Government plantation that has left the black community dealing with a new form of slavery: entitlements.”
In the first couple minutes of his must-see “Why I am a Republican” video Guillory provides a short history lesson on America’s two political parties; the one formed to oppose slavery (the Republicans) and – the other one.
The final minutes are an appeal to true freedom. Inspiring words!
“The left is only concerned with one thing: control. And they disguise this control as charity…
The idea that blacks – or anyone for that matter – need the government to get ahead in life is despicable
…the individual must be free to pursue his or her own efforts; free from government dependence and free from government control…
So my brothers and sisters of the black community, please join with me today in abandoning the government plantation, and the party of disappointment.”
Sen. Elbert Guillory isn’t the only black Democrat to switch party affiliation recently; from Star Parker/ CURE (Center for Urban Renewal and Education) ~
Less than two weeks (after the @Large Conference), just up the road in Central City, La., a black Democrat city councilman made the same announcement. Ralph Washington, who’d also attended @Large conference, said he’s turned Republican.
The Tea Party, and conservatives in general, have been unfairly demonized as racist by the Left and their puppets in the MSM for the last several years. Without any basis in fact at all. Perhaps if more blacks like these two men stand up and proclaim the truth we can finally tip the balance back to real freedom in this country.

Traditional values will attract more blacks to GOP ~ from Star Parker ~
A 2011 Gallup poll showed that whereas 39 percent of whites say they are “very religious,” 53 percent of blacks do. Many of these “very religious” blacks are conservative and very different from blacks on the left who identify with the NAACP.
