Somewhere I read that new believers who want to acquaint themselves with the Bible should start with John’s gospel, because it speaks so lovingly and eloquently about our Lord and Savior. John’s is more of a spiritual gospel than the other three (Matthew, Mark and Luke which are referred to as the synoptic gospels), emphasizing the theme of salvation in Christ.
This book was written, as the disciple “whom Jesus loved” himself puts it ~
… that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name. ~ John 20:30-31 ~

The film takes you through John verse by verse, which really helps bring the gospel to life. It uses the “Good News” version of the Bible, but it’s easy enough to follow right along with the New King James that I’ve been using.
This video is a wonderful way to “read” the book of John – for new, or not-so-new believers ~ especially during the Advent season.
For God so loved the world
that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him should not perish
but have everlasting life.
~ John 3:16 ~
