In case you’re not yet aware of it (since the mainstream media generally ignores any negative coverage about one of their favorite causes) the pro-choice movement has developed a very troubling dark side. One international strain – which goes by the name of “Femen” – is, frankly, unhinged.
 
 
Last week in Spain ~

Topless Femen activists, with their faces painted to look like skeletons and the slogan “your morals, my death” written on their upper bodies, attacked a pro-life rally on Sunday.
 
The self-styled ‘femo-terrorists’ shouted “Pro-vida genocida!” (Pro-life is genocide) as they interrupted the pro-life march in Madrid’s famous Puerta del Sol square on Sunday morning […]
 
Last month the topless activists attacked the Archbishop of Madrid, Cardinal Antonio Rouco Varela, as he arrived at church on Sunday.
 
The feminists threw underwear at the cardinal while pushing their bare breasts onto him and shouting “abortion is sacred” and other vulgarities, as a way of voicing their disapproval of the Church’s and the government’s opposition to abortion.

 
While this is an extreme example of the angry intolerance displayed by some abortion proponents, it’s far from isolated.
 
On the campus of University of California at Santa Barbara (UCSB) last month a pro-life demonstrator was assaulted, both verbally and physically. And by none other than a UCSB professor.
 
On March 4th professor Mireille Miller-Young was caught on camera stealing a sign from a 16-year-old pro-life demonstrator, calling a her “terrorist,” and then assaulting her when the young woman tried to retrieve the sign.

Miller-Young led a small mob that approached a group of pro-life demonstrators who were holding signs. The mob chanted “tear down the sign.” Miller-Young then grabbed one of the signs and stormed off with it, eventually engaging in a physical altercation with 16-year-old (Thrin) Short, one of the pro-life demonstrators, when Short tried to retrieve the stolen sign.
 
The confrontation took place in the university’s designated “free speech area.” […]
 
Even though she injured the teenager, Miller-Young defended her actions and told police she felt morally justified. She told police that images of aborted fetuses “triggered” her to act the way she did, and that she felt she had set a good example for her students by physically confronting the teenage demonstrator.

So, just so we’re clear, she felt “morally justified” in attacking people who are simply trying to save unborn children from being aborted. 😯
 
Perhaps Ms. Miller-Young’s chosen field of studies has something to do with the development of her rather twisted worldview; the prof’s research emphasis is black studies, pornography, and sex work. Charming.
 
Meanwhile, on another college campus ~ University of Michigan Exhibit Celebrates Abortion as ‘Life-Sustaining Act’ ~

That’s the theme behind an exhibit currently on display at the University of Michigan dedicated to defending and glamorizing the history of abortion […]
 
One poster, named “Bless the Diaphragm,” notes it was a popular 19th century form of contraception. Another, called “Believe Crocodile Dung,” mentions it was a popular spermicidal item in the past.
 
The “Cheer Casanova” poster touts the infamous womanizer for never having children because he used condoms. “Empower the Douche” denotes what some women at the turn of the century did to try and prevent pregnancy. And “Rejoice Fumigation” describes how “women have been fumigating their vaginas with contraceptive vapors for thousands of years.”

 
A notecard in the exhibit quotes Soraya Chemaly (feminist activist):

“ ‘Personhood’ for zygotes cruelly subverts the very idea of a culture of life and potentially criminalizes every pregnant woman.”

 
Absolutely disgusting. Killing unborn babies is now cause for celebration among the pro-aborts. (It’s no wonder that conservative author Ann Coulter has frequently referred to abortion a sacrament of the Left.) And somehow this approach – less in-your-face than angry bare-breasted feminists – is more horrifying in its subtlety; a more sinister way to mainstream the offensive oxymoron: killing is “life-sustaining.”
 
Professor Miller-Young might not have her Femen membership card yet, but I’m sure she would approve of the UM exhibit wholeheartedly.

Administrator Speaks Out On Feminist Professor Who Battered Prolife Teen ~ In a March 19th memo about the incident, the UCSB Vice-Chancellor of Student Affairs seemed more concerned with trying to justify the professor’s actions than apologizing for them ~

…(describing) anti-abortion demonstrators, who used graphic images of aborted fetuses to make their point, as “outsiders” and “evangelical types” that can ultimately be “disruptive and has the potential to draw us into the kind of conflict that puts at risk the quality of exchange of ideas that is fundamental to the mission of our university.”
