On October 17th, amid media fanfare, the Obama regime introduced the latest addition to their illustrious “czar” collection: Ron Klain, a sharp-elbowed Democratic political operative with no medical expertise. He does however have an advanced degree in squandering tax dollars, as Andrew C. McCarthy explained in this NRO piece (which I highly recommend if you’ve taken your blood pressure meds today) ~

(Klain was) a central player in the president’s Solyndra fraud, which soaked taxpayers for over half a billion dollars for the benefit of Obama cronies […]
 
In sum, auditors had scrutinized Solyndra and found it to have, from its inception, a fatally flawed business model that was hurtling toward collapse. Well aware of that fact, the president and his administration — with Ron Klain front and center — touted it as a success story that would produce jobs, growth, and spectacular success for the foreseeable future.

With that ruthless ability to deceive the public, it’s clear that that Mr. Klain will make a stellar czar – as soon as he’s on the job of course.
 
But that’s where we have our first problem. Because no sooner was Klain appointed to his new position than he promptly went missing ~ Ebola ‘czar’ to skip House hearing, aide says. Apparently Ron’s gone into the witness protection program…
 
But wait – what about Dr. Nicole Lurie? As Mollie Hemingway, at the Federalist, so astutely noted earlier this month ~ President Obama Already Has An Ebola Czar. Where Is She?
 

Dr. Lurie is the assistant secretary for preparedness and response, a National Institute of Health position created in 2006 under the Pandenic and All-Hazards Preparedness Act. Sounds like a job that just might have something to do with preparing for, responding to and recovering public health health emergencies doesn’t it?

A profile of Lurie quoted her as saying, “I have responsibility for getting the nation prepared for public health emergencies—whether naturally occurring disasters or man-made, as well as for helping it respond and recover. It’s a pretty significant undertaking.” Still another refers to her as “the highest-ranking federal official in charge of preparing the nation to face such health crises as earthquakes, hurricanes, terrorist attacks, and pandemic influenza.”

 
I presume she’s collecting a salary to carry out that “significant undertaking” yet, strangely enough, no one’s heard a peep from this woman in months…

… a Google News search for Lurie’s name at the time of writing brings up nothing in the last hour, the last 24 hours, not even the last week! You have to get back to mid-September for a few brief mentions of her name in minor publications.

 
So here we have not one but two individuals, specifically tasked with responding to national healthcare emergencies – like a potential Ebloa pandemic. Either one, or both – in a coordinated effort – should be front and center right now, keeping the public informed on their progress.
 
We don’t need another self-serving presidential photo-op with a single Ebola-free nurse. We need reassurance that the adults are in charge here. We need real leadership.
 
Instead we have a president, and his NOT-Earnest press secretary, double-talking us on quarantine procedures. While at the same time, disturbing rumors of an outrageous plan by the administration to import foreign Ebola patients into the United States work their way the news cycle.

 
In another one of his recent dictatorial addresses Obama insisted, “We (Americans) don’t run and hide when there’s a problem.”
 
Really? Your hirelings are heading for the hills.
