Scalia’s gone, but his legacy will live on

America lost a giant of jurisprudence with the passing of Antonin Scalia…

And our weakening grasp on freedom and liberty became even more tenuous.

Even if we manage to hold off the Constitution-shredding Democrats, even if we manage to get a Republican in the White House this year, and even if the GOP manages to retain its majority in Congress, it will be well nigh impossible to replace Antonin Scalia with a justice of equal caliber and sagacity.

ScaliaQuote1

Scalia called himself a “texturalist,” which meant he was patently unwilling to play semantics games. Unlike so many of his fellow jurists, it would have been inconceivable for him to twist language or alter the meaning of words to suit ever-changing progressive mores. Because of course, Justice Scalia’s mores weren’t progressive. His astute analyses and carefully measured decisions were firmly rooted in transcendent truth.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Scalia’s passing has ignited the latest battle in America’s relentless war of competing worldviews. Obama – as usual when the progressive agenda is threatened – immediately goes on offense (knowing the media has his back) and pretends he actually respects the Constitution ~
In his remarks on Saturday concerning Scalia’s death, the president said: “I plan to fulfill my constitutional responsibilities to nominate a successor in due time. obama-hystericalThere will be plenty of time for me to do so, and for the Senate to fulfill its responsibility to give that person a fair hearing and a timely vote.These are responsibilities that I take seriously, as should everyone. They’re bigger than any one party. They are about our democracy.”
[Blatant hypocrisy alert]
To which the Justice might reply with a quote from his dissent on Obergefell v. Hodges (same-sex “marriage”) ~
…a “system of government that makes the People subordinate to a committee of nine unelected lawyers does not deserve to be called a democracy.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Yes, our immediate future as a Constitutional Republic suddenly looks a lot murkier than it did a week ago. But Antonin Scalia’s legacy of legal integrity and fidelity to our founding documents will live on as an example for generations to come. Because he was grounded in eternal truth, his words will be as relevant 1000 years from now as they are today.
