According to some poll The Hill is quoting, Donald Trump’s support is up to 60 percent in New York. Yippee.
And hardly surprising considering The Donald really does represent New York’s secular, socially liberal, nanny-state values. For the last 30 years or so the state been reliably Democrat. Since the Obama years began, it’s turned Left even sharper and faster than the rest of the country.
Aren’t NYC values charming?
While trying to paint Ted Cruz as some callous bastard who was mocking the 9-11 tragedy, Trump advocates failed to point out the anti-religion New York values that were behind the attempt to remove the “cross” from the memorial display.
And they also neglected to mention that Governor Cuomo kicked God out of the Empire State two years ago ~
Not too shocking actually; NYC has been kicking churches out of school buildings for years (Faith-based organizations thought they won this battle but the atheists are a tenacious bunch).
Trump defenders also forgot that many New Yorkers aren’t particularly fond of the 2nd Amendment. (Remember when the NY Journal-News published the names and addresses of gun-owners?)
I don’t want to paint the whole state with a broad brush, many of New York’s outstate areas still lean Republican.
Unfortunately conservative votes are cancelled out by the Big Apple; a veritable progressive utopia since since hard-Left socialist de Blasio was elected.
Under the first-term mayor the city has…
• Turned the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade into a gay celebration
• Targeted the FDNY for “fundamental transformation”
• Declared war on the city’s horse carriages
• Declared war on minority education; opposing charter schools
• Legalized Public Urination
And let’s not forget last summer’s very bad omen: the Empire State Building tribute to “Kali” the Indian god of death (Who thought that was a good idea?!) –
Yes, count me out.
Sorry Donald. New York values are not going to Make America Great Again.
