Menendez evades justice, merely “rebuked”

Even with a Republican in the White House and majorities in Congress, Democrats are still above the law.

Thanks to complete indifference from the mainstreams, most Americans don’t even realize that a sitting U.S. senator was on trial for a couple months last fall for allegedly taking nearly $1,000,000 in bribes in exchange for political favors. As the Daily Mail reported last September ~

(September 5, 2017) Sen. Bob Menendez’s (D-NJ) corruption trial kicks off with tales of international jet-setting, $1,500-a-night hotel rooms and alleged affairs with models and actresses […]

Beyond the tabloid angles, this week’s corruption trial of U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez and a wealthy friend, promises to put the very business of governing under a microscope – and –
could eventually lead to a Republican taking over his seat in the deeply divided Senate.

Well, the Democrats couldn’t let that happen could they? So naturally, the case ended in a mistrial ~

Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez’s lengthy corruption trial ended Thursday (Nov. 16th) in a mistrial after the jury deadlocked on all charges.

The jury announced in a note before lunch Thursday that it could not reach a unanimous decision, the Washington Post reports, “nor are we willing to move away from our strong convictions.”

A mistrial is a major victory for a senator who had to fight 18 counts of alleged corruption, and a setback for the Justice Department, whose efforts to combat public corruption have been curtailed by a recent Supreme Court decision.

Unfortunately, the Sessions’ DOJ declined to prosecute the case any further (What in the world has happened to Jeff Sessions? I honestly believed we could count on him to defend the Constitution!) ~ Justice Won’t Retry Bob Menendez, And Jersey Continues To Be The Shadiest Place In America.

Old Bob, however, did get rebuked by the Senate Ethics Committee (practically a badge of honor for most Dems) ~ Ethics Panel ‘Severely’ Admonishes Democrat Bob Menendez Over Gift Violations ~

The Senate Ethics Committee offered a brutal rebuke of New Jersey Sen. Robert Menendez on Thursday (April 26th), accusing the Democrat of providing political favors for a friend in exchange for expensive gifts and vacations.

“The Committee concludes that your actions violated Senate Rules and related statutes, and reflected discredit upon the Senate,” reads a bi-partisan letter from the ethics panel’s six members.[…]

Menendez was tried for bribery in 2017 in federal court over his relationship with Melgen. The lawmaker was indicted on April 1, 2015, on 14 counts of bribery and other charges. A mistrial was declared on Nov. 16, 2017, after a federal jury in New Jersey was unable to reach a verdict.

Undaunted by the committee’s attack on his character, the unethical Menendez is doggedly running for re-election this fall. He’ll probably be a shoe-in. You can bet no one in the mainstream media will make the slightest mention of his shady past.

Justice Department Won’t Retry Senator Menendez on Corruption Charges ~

Menedez is a crook and tried to cover it up. It doesn’t get much simpler than that. But once again, the prosecution in a political corruption case was apparently more interested in making a name for themselves rather than putting sleazy politicians in jail. They overreached and confused the jury, rather than concentrating on two or three major charges.

So Menendez gets away with his corruption, proving once again that rules are for the little people.
