For me, one of the most convincing proofs of the truth of Christianity has always been the stunning transformation of Jesus’ apostles after His resurrection. While Christ was being arrested, tried and crucified his disciples denied knowing Him, fled and went into hiding, desperately frightened that they would share their Master’s fate. Yet little more than a month later these very same men were suddenly fearless evangelists, holding their own lives in little regard, on fire for the gospel. Who else but the risen Lord – and the Holy Spirit – could have inspired them so?
This courage, fearlessness – in the face of harsh persecution that none of us in western nations can even imagine – is truly the hallmark of a faithful Christian.
Open Doors shares the story of one such believer in North Korea ~
“But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself,
so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received
from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.”
~ the Apostle Paul, Acts 20:24
