Remember the drowned Syrian boy story? The one the European progressive media used as agit-prop to guilt western Europeans into effectively committing nationcide by opening their borders to ever-growing hoards of third-world immigrants? It actually turned out to be one of the original examples of Fake News. The Daily Caller helped expose the charade in this Sept. 2015 story ~
Details about the Syrian family of the three-year old boy, who drowned as they made their way to Europe from Turkey on a small dingy, began to emerge recently and some things do not add up.
Originally described as desperate refugees fleeing the Syrian civil war, it turns out the boy and his family had lived in Turkey for a year or more ~
According to The Wall Street Journal, Abdullah Kurdi, the little boy’s father, was living in a relatively safe area in a Turkish town for three years while working on construction sites for 50 Turkish lira (roughly $17) a day.
However, Kurdi told a Syrian radio station it was not enough to support himself and his family and he relied on his sister Tima Kurdi, who is a 20-year resident of Canada, to assist in paying the rent.
According to the sister, Kurdi’s father advised his son to leave Turkey and go to Europe and have his teeth fixed. Once he reached Europe, he was told to find a way to bring his entire family over from Turkey.
So much for the gut-wrenching refugees-fleeing-for-their-lives narrative.
In the same way that the open borders-promoting media saturated their news coverage with that story and the iconic picture, the mainstreams today are obsessing over illegal immigrants’ children. They’re peddling the same brand of deceitful propaganda. (The original photos they tried to shock us with were four years old.)
First of all, they didn’t care at all when the Obama Administration separated children from their parents at the border ~
Multiple stories about those family detention centers written during the Obama era–just not by the mainstream media. In particular, dozens of stories about the Nogales Placement Center in Nogales, Arizona particular were written by journalists at Shadowproof, a reader-supported media outlet, alone. Journalists for Shadowproof also frequently reported on the T. Don Hutto Residential Center in Taylor, Texas. Most media declined to investigate these facilities until fairly recently.

Second, the leftist autocrats and their media puppets are completely misrepresenting the situation on the border. Families who arrive at an official border crossing requesting asylum are not separated. It’s only those who are apprehended while entering illegally that are faced with that outcome.
Rich Lowry explained the situation quite clearly in this article at National Review ~
The Trump administration isn’t changing the rules that pertain to separating an adult from the child. Those remain the same. Separation happens only if officials find that the adult is falsely claiming to be the child’s parent, or is a threat to the child, or is put into criminal proceedings.
It’s the last that is operative here. The past practice had been to give a free pass to an adult who is part of a family unit. The new Trump policy is to prosecute all adults. The idea is to send a signal that we are serious about our laws and to create a deterrent against re-entry. (Illegal entry is a misdemeanor, illegal re-entry a felony.)
Imagine that. Trump (and everyone who voted for him no doubt) actually think that breaking our immigration laws should have consequences.
When a migrant is prosecuted for illegal entry, he or she is taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals. In no circumstance anywhere in the U.S. do the marshals care for the children of people they take into custody. The child is taken into the custody of HHS, who cares for them at temporary shelters.
Lowry make several important points about this contentious situation ~
1) Family units can go home quickly.
The option that both honors our laws and keeps family units together is a swift return home after prosecution. But immigrant advocates hate it because they want the migrants to stay in the United States.
2) There’s a better way to claim asylum.
if a migrant does have a credible fear of persecution, there is a legitimate way to pursue that claim, and it does not involve entering the United States illegally. First, such people should make their asylum claim in the first country where they feel safe, i.e., Mexico or some other country they are traversing to get here. Second, if for some reason they are threatened everywhere but the United States, they should show up at a port of entry and make their claim there rather than crossing the border illegally.
3) There is a significant moral cost to not enforcing the border.
(U)nder current policy and with the current resources, the only practical alternative is letting family units who show up at the border live in the country for the duration. Not only does this make a mockery of our laws, it creates an incentive for people to keep bringing children with them.
Needless to say, children should not be making this journey that is fraught with peril. But there is now a premium on bringing children because of how we have handled these cases. They are considered chits.
4) Congress can fix this.
Congress can change the rules so the Flores consent decree (which essentially say minors in family units must be held separately) will no longer apply, and it can appropriate more money for family shelters at the border. This is an obvious thing to do that would eliminate the tension between enforcing our laws and keeping family units together.
The Trump administration is throwing as many resources as it can at the border to expedite the process, and it desperately wants the Flores consent decree reversed. Despite some mixed messages, if the administration had its druthers, family units would be kept together and their cases settled quickly.
Of course the mainstreams have no interest in actually having an intelligent conversation about any of these specific issues. They’ve got an open-borders agenda to push. Can’t let a good crisis go to waste – even a totally phony one.

Children Separated at the Border? ~ How we know it’s all politically-driven hype ~
Let’s start with the fact that Democrats are desperate. Republican economic policies, pursued by the Trump administration and enacted by the Republican Congress, have our economy humming along at a historic rate. Overseas, the Trump administration has moved to advance America’s trade interests and to neutralize some of the principal threats against us, including that from North Korea.
What is a loyal Democrat to do? Change the subject. Hence the obsession, which has blown up over the past few days, with the alleged separation of parents from their children at the country’s Southern border.
Obama administration placed children with human traffickers, report says ~ [ January 28, 2016] How did the mainstreams miss this one? ~
The Obama administration failed to protect thousands of Central American children who have flooded across the U.S. border since 2011, leaving them vulnerable to traffickers and to abuses at the hands of government-approved caretakers, a Senate investigation has found.
