OK – what’s wrong with this picture? I’ve had to put off a root canal for several months since we don’t have dental coverage and the out-of-pocket cost was between $1,500 and $2,000. Finally had the work finished up today; one dentist, no assistants. (I was in the chair an hour – took a few minutes to get my mouth to closed again!)
So, while waiting for the Novocain to wear off, I come across this video of a squirrel monkey at the San Diego Zoo getting, of all things… a root canal!
Life support monitors, state-of-art facility, medical team of four – all free!
Good grief! Why monkey around? Just pull the darn tooth!
Don’t get me wrong, I love animals. But while tax revenues in San Diego are going to support free squirrel-monkey-care at the zoo, how many taxpayers in that city (and state) are unable to afford dental care for their own human teeth??
