Mobocracy Indoctrination

As further evidence that California public schools have gone off the rails, the Oakland Education Association decided to throw their support behind the Occupy protest: School will be cancelled in Oakland because the teachers don’t like U.S. tax policy! And you can just bet they’ll want to be paid for shirking their responsibility.

Even more outrageous, now they want to get their students on-board with the OWS movement. American Thinker reports on a new teaching guide that’s turned up in a Santa Cruz elementary school: Occupying the Minds of Our Youth. Published by the Morningstar Center, a leftie organization that teaches “social responsibility,” it’s entitled “Considering Democracy in Occupy Wall Street,” recommended for grades 4-7. It should be sub-titled: “Redistribution 101″…

Occupy Wall Street is a group of activists who want to change the way money, wealth, and income are distributed in the U.S. They want to change the fact that there is a very big difference between how much money and wealth rich and poor people have. Also, they want to make our country more democratic so that even people with little money and power can have more of a voice.

Part of the lesson plan has the teachers asking “What are your ideas for making our class more democratic?”

A suggested list of acceptable answers includes:
• Decide what we will learn in class and make curricula decisions.
• Create the classroom rules and consequences as a group.
• Have a student council in the class to create and enforce rules.
• Students decide the menu for school lunch.
• Have students take turns teaching the class.

Not only would they have the inmates running the asylum, the teachers and administrators expect the kids to do their jobs?

As Missouri Education Watchdog puts it;

Way to go, teachers. Don’t give the kids a balanced look at the Occupy movement and present all sides of the debate. That would be too fair and downright educational. Instead you’re going to present your point of view as the correct point of view, and allow students to leave your classroom believing your words are gospel.

How would the unions react if a public school teacher gave daily lessons about Dick Cheney’s plan for America, and how he was right about every issue? Do you think labor leaders would object to that?

Parents send their children to school to learn the fundamentals – not to be indoctrinated into any political movement.

Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts,
and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet
that did not commit suicide.”

~ John Adams, letter to John Taylor, 1814 ~
