No more funding for “Snowflakes?”

“I’ve got two daughters, 9 years old and 6 years old. I am going to teach them first of all about values and morals. But if they make a mistake, I don’t want them punished with a baby.

Then-Senator Obama’s declaration in April 2008 stunned many of us at the time he made it – the idea of a precious new life being a “punishment” was rather shocking. Unfortunately too many voters either agreed with him – or simply thought it was just an awkward choice of words.

Yet in view of his actions over the past few years, this may have been one of the more honest statements the man has ever uttered – in public anyway.

In fact, the president seems determined to prevent anyone from being “punished” with a baby. Consider the administration’s “anti-life” actions:

• Obama nominated three pro-abortion ambassadors to the Vatican (all of whom the Vatican rejected);

• The new health care rules will override religious conscience protections for medical workers in the areas of abortion and contraception;

• Taxpayers are now forced to fund pro-abortion groups that either promote or perform abortions in other nations;

• Employers will now be forced to provide insurance that includes “free” birth control” including the morning-after pill.

President Obama has consistently supported embryonic stem-cell research and even partial-birth abortion.

So as disappointing as the latest news is, it comes as no surprise: Obama defunds ‘snowflake babies.’

The Embryo Adoption Awareness Campaign was begun under the George W. Bush administration as a means to prevent the destruction of “extra” frozen embryos. Also referred to as the “snowflake baby” program (each child is unique, like a snowflake), it provided funding for adoption-awareness programs for the children who were formerly stored human embryos.

The federal government has funded embryo-adoption awareness since 2002 in response to the furor over stem-cell research, which destroys the embryos in the process of culling them for the stem cells.

President Bush steadfastly vetoed legislation opening up federal funding for research on new stem-cell lines and instead touted embryo adoption as a choice for couples with “extra” frozen embryos.

“The children here today remind us that there is no such thing as a spare embryo,” Mr. Bush said at a 2005 White House event with “snowflake” children and their families.

“These lives are not raw material to be exploited, but gifts,” he said pointedly.

Snowflake babies were certainly “gifts”
– and blessings –
to these people ➡

“Miracle” babies!

How many Americans are even aware of these precious “Snowflakes? Is the $2 million that’s allocated annually for embryo-adoption awareness program really something that needs to be slashed from the budget? That figure is a drop in the bucket compared to the $1 million a day that Planned Parenthood gets!

And what does this funding disparity say about Obama’s character – and that of his Leftist minions?

As Congressman Chris Smith (R-NJ), one of the strong proponents of the pro-life program, stated:

“Assertions that leftover embryos are better off dead so that their stem cells can be derived is dehumanizing and cheapens human life. There is no such thing as leftover human life. Ask the snowflake children— cryogenically frozen embryos who were adopted—their lives are precious and priceless.”

Why would anyone would prefer to destroy an embryo for non-promising research, rather than welcome a new baby into the world?

Sadly, it seems that Sasha and Malia have already been “punished” – by having a father who places such little value on human life.
