One year ago the MSM was obsessed with the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Who can forget the non-stop videos of the oil gushing from that uncapped well? The dire predictions of doom? President Obama called it the nation’s worst environmental disaster (GASP!), demonizing BP and demanding justice (and of course $$$ in retribution!) while at the same time he was frustrating any genuine attempts to clean up the mess. If he hadn’t been so intent on using the spill to push through more economy-killing environmental restrictions, he would have taken the advice of the Heritage Foundation (and many others) – Obama’s Oil Spill To-Do List.
Twelve months after the spill, we’re only seeing a few follow-up stories. So how is the Gulf really doing a year later? Turns out – not so bad. Margaret Wente recaps in The Globe & Mail with “Can you handle the truth?”
One year after the worst oil spill in history, the Gulf of Mexico is nearly back to normal…
Armageddon didn’t happen. Instead of terrible harm to the biosphere, the Deepwater Horizon spill has caused only mild problems.
Shouldn’t the recovery story be trumpeted as loudly as the catastrophe story? Nah. The “disaster” image is stuck in the heads of most drones and that’s right where the administration and their proaganda machine – the MSM – want it.
