So are you in favor of ~
• Higher rates of out-of-wedlock births?
• A major increase in sexually-transmitted diseases?
• Significantly lower SAT scores?
• Drug abuse?
• Broken marriages?
• More sexual abuse of children?
• Lower business productivity?
• More suicides?
• More dishonest politicians and corrupt government bureaucracies?
• Higher crime rates?
If you see all these changes as positive developments, then you should celebrate the fact that we banished prayer from public schools 55 years ago. That’s when all those trends started to mushroom – in what most would agree is definitely the wrong direction.
In his book “America – To Pray or Not to Pray” David Barton documented the startling trends in social pathologies that can be traced to an exact pivot point in American history ~
In decisions rendered on June 25, 1962, in Engel v. Vitale, and on June 17, 1963, in Murray v. Curlett and Abington v. Schempp, the Supreme Court forbade the inclusion of religious activities in major activities of daily student life by striking down school prayer and Bible reading.
Never before in the history of our nation had any branch of our government taken such a stand.
It may be a bit simplistic to point to a couple Supreme Court decisions in the 60’s as the cause for the decline, but there’s no denying the troubling trends since then.
When Barton originally published his book in 1988, our social ills were already on a disturbing negative trajectory. And any objective observer would agree that things have only gotten significantly worse in the last thirty years (Just think, school shootings were unheard of in ’88; Columbine didn’t occur until 1999). It’s just what happens when we you turn your back on God.
These kids seem to have it figured out [Hat-tip: CarolynD] ~
(Dec 22, 2015) ~ Enough is enough. It’s time to take a stand. Today, students at East Catholic High School rise up and declare that we’re more concerned with God than we are with being politically correct.
We encourage you to do the same. Please watch our video…then SHARE it with your friends and encourage THEM to SHARE it as well.
