“It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his
neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one
of these little ones.” Jesus ~ Luke 17:2
Last Friday, Michigan’s attorney general Bill Schuette announced that our state would be joining several others in launching an investigation into allegations of decades-old sexual abuse – and subsequent cover-up – among Catholic clergy ~
Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette will investigate all allegations of sexual abuse and assault by Catholic diocesan and religious order priests as well as any attempts to cover up those actions dating back to the 1950s in Michigan.
Prompted by last month’s shocking grand jury report from Pennsylvania, in addition to Michigan, attorneys general in Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Wyoming – and now Maryland – are undertaking their own probes. There’s even talk of a RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act) investigation into the entire Catholic Church because, in order to hush up allegations, accused priests were regularly transferred, sometimes across state lines, which would make it a federal crime.
These investigations will need to reach back 60-70 years because that’s how long this perversion has been taking place. That’s how long the internal cover-up has been going on. Had the original incidents been criminally investigated initially, much of the later years’ abuses may have been prevented.
Paul Rahe provided some valuable background on what has essentially been a prolonged pederasty scandal in his August 30th article at The Federalist ~
(A) priest named Gerald Fitzgerald — who in 1947 founded a small religious order named Congregation of the Servants of the Paraclete to counsel priests who had difficulty with alcoholism, substance abuse, celibacy, and the like — had for decades been trying to alert the American bishops and officials in the Vatican (including Pope Paul VI) to the fact that priestly pederasty (which, he said, was unheard of before World War II) was a growing problem within the American Catholic Church. He had persistently tried to persuade the hierarchy to forbid the perpetrators’ supervision of boys and to laicize them, all to no avail.
Rather than part of the solution, the bishops actually seem to have been part of the problem. Over and over through the years brave laity and priests have tried to expose and stop the ongoing abuses, but most of their efforts have been futile.
(I)n 1984, when a scandal of this sort broke out in the diocese of Lafayette, Louisiana, a Dominican priest named Thomas P. O’Doyle — who was a canon lawyer working for the Papal Nuncio in Washington and had seen numerous reports of a similar kind cross his desk — joined with a Louisiana lawyer named F. Ray Mouton, Jr., and another priest, a psychiatrist named Michael Peterson, who directed a hospital for troubled priests and knew a great deal, to conduct an extensive investigation of clerical misconduct along these lines throughout the United States.
The report these three men produced was sent to every bishop in the country in May 1985, and then it was ignored. Bishop after bishop continued the long-standing practice of covering up the scandals that arose, of paying off the victims, eliciting from them a non-disclosure agreement, and transferring the perpetrators from one parish to another and even from one diocese to another.
Might some of the prelates have become so desperate to keep this widespread pederasty under wraps that they’d actually resort to murder? Possibly. Church Militant recently reported on the very mysterious 2012 death of a priest in Buffalo who for years had been trying to get his superiors to address what he discovered about a clerical homosexual network in his diocese ~
Church Militant has been working on an in-depth investigation for the past few weeks on some nefarious goings on in the diocese of Buffalo, New York, including perhaps what appears to be a homicide aimed at covering up information about to be released by a whistleblower priest regarding the well-established clerical homosexual network in the diocese […]
The diocese has a sordid history going back to at least the mid-1990s under the reign of Bp. Henry Mansell and even further — to a homosexual assault by a priest on 6-year-old Anthony Ravarini whom Church Militant interviewed last month…
[Read/watch video HERE for the rest of the story; it’s pretty chilling. This would be a great case for Forensic Files to investigate.]
Because the allegations and assaults were never addressed forthrightly, the perversion was allowed to metastasize. And now it’s reached the highest levels.
Rahe goes on to explain what many have know for years, the sodomite cultural goes all the way to the Vatican. He quotes a Dec. 2013 article by Michael Joseph Gross ~
At the Vatican, a significant number of gay prelates and other gay clerics are in positions of great authority. They may not act as a collective but are aware of one another’s existence. And they inhabit a secretive netherworld, because homosexuality is officially condemned. Though the number of gay priests in general, and specifically among the Curia in Rome, is unknown, the proportion is much higher than in the general population. Between 20 and 60 percent of all Catholic priests are gay, according to one estimate cited by Donald B. Cozzens in his well-regarded The Changing Face of the Priesthood. For gay clerics at the Vatican, one fundamental condition of their power, and of their priesthood, is silence, at least in public, about who they really are.
On the heels of the Pennsylvania bombshell, the courageous Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò, former apostolic nuncio (Vatican ambassador) to the United States, actually chastised Pope Francis for his part in covering up the scandals – specifically one involving a former cardinal – and called upon him to resign ~ Ex-nuncio accuses Pope Francis of failing to act on McCarrick’s abuse reports ~
Vatican City, Aug 25, 2018 (National Catholic Register) ~ In an 11-page written testament, a former apostolic nuncio to the United States has accused several senior prelates of complicity in covering up Archbishop Theodore McCarrick’s allegations of sexual abuse, and has claimed that Pope Francis knew about sanctions imposed on then-Cardinal McCarrick by Pope Benedict XVI but chose to repeal them.
Archbishop Viganò, who said his “conscience dictates” that the truth be known as “the corruption has reached the very top of the Church’s hierarchy,” ended his testimony by calling on Pope Francis and all of those implicated in the cover up of Archbishop McCarrick’s abuse to resign.
The pope’s astounding response to Viganò’s stunning assertions? He compares the whistleblowers, those who are trying to end this wickedness, to Satan!
Tuesday’s (Sept. 18th) homily marked the fourth occasion in two weeks where the pope decried the action of those who accuse bishops, comparing them to the devil, the “Great Accuser.”
The abusers and sodomites on the other hand are being unjustly persecuted ~
“When people insulted Jesus on Good Friday and shouted, “Crucify him,” he remained silent because he had compassion for those people deceived by the powerful.”
“He was silent. He prayed,” Francis said.
“In the same way, the pastor, in difficult times, in times when the devil is unleashed, where the pastor is accused—accused by the Great Accuser through so many people, so many powerful ones—suffers, offers his life and prays,” the pope said.
This man makes a mockery of God’s Word! His dissembling reminds me of the devil himself. This is precisely how Satan twists scripture for his own nefarious purposes.
Can this get much more outrageous? Or devastating? Although I’m not Catholic, I grieve for the effect this tragedy will have on the church – because in the end, it will impact the entire Christian community. As I said last month ~
Back in 2002 when many of these scandals first surfaced, tens of thousands of Catholics fled the church in disgust. Others just stopped attending mass entirely. How many more will leave now – their faith completely shattered? And how many other marginal Christians of other denominations will also walk away, unable to disassociate the grievously, sinful men from an all-loving, ever-faithful God.
Willis L. Krumholz and Robert Delahunty addressed ecumenical concerns in an excellent piece ~ Why Every Christian Should Be Very Worried About The Catholic Sex Scandal ~
(E)very Christian has a compelling obligation to protect the weak and vulnerable to the greatest extent possible. The victims of clerical sex abuse in the Catholic Church (as elsewhere) have often been children. While many victims have been compensated — if “compensation” for such injuries is really possible — and the Catholic Church in many places has instituted practices to guard against future abuse, it remains necessary to speak on behalf of those who have been victimized and those who may still be at risk.
All Christians, especially Catholics, should be angry. It is unbearable to think of what has been done “to the least of these” by those claiming to speak in the name of Christ. Many of the children targeted and abused came from broken and dysfunctional homes. Many are fatherless.
The church is charged with mending the emptiness that a broken family brings, not violently shattering a child’s world. God is the father to the fatherless. What would Christ, who overturned tables at the temple and chased out the moneychangers with a whip, do to those who sexually molest his children?
This entire abomination makes the perversions found in Sodom look like a gay parade in San Francisco – disgusting, but short-lived. The majority of those priests engaged in the abuses, including homosexual sex, can’t possibly take their vows seriously. Many of them will be headed straight to hell the minute they expire. But the greater tragedy are those young lives they may have ruined along the way – and which may end up there as well.
Short of physical murder, is there a worse crime than killing the soul of a child? It’s a most horrific sin; one that Jesus Himself warned about. Betray the trust of an innocent, lead a child astray, and you’re doomed ~
At the same time came the disciples to Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? And Jesus called a little child to him, and set him in the middle of them, 3And said, Truly I say to you, Except you be converted, and become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever shall receive one such little child in my name receives me.
But whoever shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!
~ Matthew 18:2-7

Is Homosexuality the Cause of Catholic Church Scandals? ~
It is time to admit that there is a homosexual subculture within the hierarchy of the Catholic Church that is wreaking great devastation in the vineyard of the Lord. The Church’s teaching is clear that the homosexual inclination is not in itself sinful, but it is intrinsically disordered in a way that renders any man stably afflicted by it unfit to be a priest. And the decision to act upon this disordered inclination is a sin so grave that it cries out to heaven for vengeance, especially when it involves preying upon the young or the vulnerable. Such wickedness should be hated with a perfect hatred. Christian charity itself demands that we should hate wickedness just as we love goodness. But while hating the sin, we must never hate the sinner, who is called to conversion, penance, and renewed communion with Christ and His Church, through His inexhaustible mercy.

Pope Francis warns that those who complain may be ‘punished by serpents’ ~
Pope Francis seems to be reiterating his warning from his homily yesterday (Sept. 13), implying that those who are critical of the hierarchy are being mindlessly lured to aligning themselves with the work of the devil, as if they were drawn to pet a cute puppy.
In so doing he dismisses critical thinking of the laity, priests, and bishops who have expressed outrage over the clergy sex scandals and their alleged cover-ups.

Next Stage in the Bergoglian Debacle: Gay Church Comes Out ~ 6-29-17 ~
As I have noted on these pages more than once, the essential novelty of the Bergoglian pontificate, even in the midst of the turbulent sea of novelty that is the post-conciliar epoch, is its carefully planned and relentlessly executed assault on the Sixth Commandment under the guise of “accompanying and “integrating” public sinners involved in “second marriages” and other “irregular unions” through a vague process of “discernment” of their “concrete situations.” In other words, a form of situation ethics in matters sexual. This development is simply apocalyptic. There is no other word for what we are witnessing.
