So there was Ilhan Omar (if that is her name) last week as she arrived home in Minneapolis to a crowd of adoring fans ~
“We are going to continue to be a nightmare to this president,” Omar said. “Because his policies are a nightmare to us. We are not deterred, we are not frightened, we are ready.”
To which the president responded ~
“I’m unhappy when a congresswoman goes, ‘I’m going to be the president’s nightmare,’” Trump said. “She’s lucky to be where she is, let me tell you.” […]
Trump also criticized Omar’s history of anti-Semitic rhetoric. “The things that she has said are a disgrace to our country,” he said.
Trump defended his supporters, despite some of them chanting “send her back” about the congresswoman who was once a Somalian refugee before becoming an American citizen.
She is lucky to be where she is. Migrants are swarming our borders by the thousands every week just to get into what is arguably the best nation in the world, a country which guarantees its citizens the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, the land of opportunity. But there’s Omar – trashing America – and us.
Granted, the “send her back” chant was a bit over the top, but her home country could easily qualify as one of the s***holes the president was referring to a few months ago. Before President Trump’s tweetstorm in which he encouraged Omar to go back and fix her own country, Somali-Canadian journalist Hodan Nalayeh was trying to do precisely that.
Nalayeh returned to the country of her birth to tell “uplifting” stories about Somalia, according to the Washington Post.
Another Somali writer praised her portraying an image of the country radically different from the stereotype of “victims trapped in a vicious circle of conflicts” […]
On Friday last week, Nalayeh was killed in that very same town when al-Shabab militants stormed the Asasey Hotel in Kismayo.
Speaking of “nightmares,” here’s what World Watch Monitor has to say about the third worst country in the world when it comes to persecution of Christians ~
The militant Islamist group Al-Shabaab, founded in Somalia, says it wants the country to be “free of all Christians”. The group is able to act with impunity in Somalia’s lawless and tribal society. Many tribal leaders see being Somali and being Muslim as one and the same, and leaving Islam as a betrayal. Islam is Somalia’s official state religion, and the government prohibits any celebration of Christmas.

Al-Shabab regards Christians with a Muslim background as high-value targets. Believers who left Islam to follow Jesus are often killed on the spot when discovered. Al-Shabab has continuously expressed its desire to eradicate Christians from the country.
Islamic oppression is not limited to militants. Christians also face serious persecution from families and the community at large. Any conversion to Christianity is regarded as a betrayal of the Somali family and clan. As a result, if Somalis are suspected of being converts, family members and clan leaders will harass, intimidate and even kill them. In recent years, the situation appears to have worsened. Islamic militants have intensified their hunt for Christians and in a position of leadership. An attempt to reopen a church in Hargeisa, Somaliland, failed because the government was forced to shut it down due to pressure from the local Islamic population.
Is this the paradise Ilhan Omar has in mind for the U.S.? Sharia law? Frequent terrorist attacks? “Free of all Christians?” One certainly has to wonder…
